General English / Business English / Examinations / IELTS Course
All our courses are three hours per day (including a 30-minute coffee break), Monday to Friday. We have classes from 09.00 to 12.00, from 12.30 to 15.30 and from 15.30 to 18.30. If you want to study more intensively, you can book and follow two courses at the same time (for example you can come from 09.00 to 12.00 and from 12.30 to 15.30).
General English
The great advantage of Princes College is that courses run throughout
the year (except Bank Holidays and two weeks for Christmas).
Each lesson lasts for three hours, including coffee breaks.
The first part of each lesson concentrates on grammar and structure
and the second part puts the emphasis on communication including
conversation and listening. All four language skills are covered:
reading, writing, listening and speaking.

You will be given a written and oral placement test on arrival
at Princes College. This will check your grammar, vocabulary and
spoken English, and will help to place you in the right class. We
have 8 different levels: Beginners, Elementary, Pre-Intermediate,
Intermediate, Upper-Intermediate, First Certificate, Advanced and
Proficiency. If you have never studied English before, we will advise
you of a suitable starting date for your course.

Business English classes will give you the opportunity to improve
your general English and practise the language skills needed at
work, including participating in meetings, negotiating and communicating
by telephone.
The course covers business vocabulary, grammar, as well as writing
skills for business situations. It also includes elements of English
for marketing, banking, management and international trade.
|
|
To follow our Business English courses, we require students to
have achieved at least Upper-Intermediate level.
|
Examinations
Our English courses lead to Cambridge University Examinations such
as Preliminary English Test, First Certificate in English, Certificate
in Advanced English and Certificate of Proficiency in English. We
also prepare for the IELTS Exam and we will advise you of a suitable
starting date should you be interested.
Business English courses prepare for the London Chamber of Commerce
and Industry (LCCI) Examinations.

IELTS Course
The International English Language Testing System (IELTS) examination is designed to assess if candidates are ready to study at a British university. There are four parts to the examination: reading, writing, listening and speaking. You cannot pass or fail the IELTS examination; candidates receive a grade from zero to nine and the results are issued two weeks after the examination.
The IELTS class at Princes College is designed to prepare suitable candidates for the examination including essay writing, fluent and accurate speaking, describing and interpreting graphs and charts, practice in the skills of reading and listening, examination tasks and mock exams. The class is held in the morning, from 9.00 to 12.00. The cost of the IELTS class is the same as the General English class. The IELTS class is suitable for any student above Upper-Intermediate level.
